In an older post we talked about how to get rid of ads for the whole house, but what if you only want to apply this to your personal computer?
Here, we’re also talking about the same AdGuard DNS service, which provides a very easy way to prevent ads.
All you have to do is to change the DNS settings in your PC.
In other words, there is no need to install any programs.
It’s very easy, simple and will take about one minute of your time.
AdGuard DNS has two services, so choose the one that fits your needs:
The default service:
If you want just to block ads, use these two DNS servers:
176.103.130.130
176.103.130.131
The family service:
This service blocks ads, blocks adult websites, blocks the bad search results in Google, and blocks YouTube comments and other things that do not concern the children.
Use these two DNS servers for the family service:
176.103.130.132
176.103.130.134
Here’s how to do it on Windows:
1. Open Network and Internet settings by right clicking on your WiFi or Ethernet icon in your taskbar.
2. Click on Change adapter options.
3. Right click on your WiFi or Ethernet icon and click Properties.
4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 then click on the Properties button.
5. Change your settings as in the following image (use any of the two services mentioned earlier).
6. When you’re finished making changes to the DNS settings click OK then OK again.
Congratulations, you are now ad free. Wohoo! ?
Here’s how to do it on Mac OS:
1. Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
2. Choose the Network control panel
3. Select your network interface from the left side (Wi-Fi or Ethernet),
then click the Advanced button in the lower right corner of the Network window.
5. Choose the DNS tab at the top of the screen, then click on the plus button (+) to add the new DNS servers.
6. When you’re finished making changes to the DNS settings click OK then click on Apply.
Congratulations, you are now ad free. Wohoo! ?
Summary of the topic (TL;DR):
Once you apply the AdGuard DNS service to your PC, you wont get ads while browsing the web or inside your programs.
Best of all is it’s free to use and you can add the service in less than a minute and also remove it if you no longer want to use it.
